The National Teacher Prize, Georgia is part of the Global Teacher Prize campaign that aims to recognize teachers in Georgia as well as teaching as a profession. The Georgian Coalition for Education for All (GCEFA), received the accreditation to implement the NTP in Georgia from the Varkey Foundation, who established the Global Teacher Prize in 2014.
Active teachers teaching in general public or private authorised educational institutions are eligible to take part in the national competition. Registration of contestants will be carried out on the website www.tprize.ge within the announced period. The jury will be composed of 18 members – education specialists, representatives of the academic/educational institutes and public figures – who will act on a volunteer basis. They will conduct the three-step selection process of the contestants, taking international best practice into account.
The winner of the National Teacher Prize must demonstrate the following:
- Improvement of the learning outcomes of pupils, using innovative and effective methods in teaching
- Teaching of universal civic values and principles
- Public recognition and civil activity
- Professional development and sharing of experience

Grantee
The Georgian Coalition for Education for All (GCEFA) was established in 2013. Formed by 15 NGO’s, GCEFA is a member of the Global Campaign for Education, and advocates for the implementation of EFA Declaration principles in Georgia. The aim of the organisation is to improve the quality of education and to achieve equal access to quality education. The coalition is a member of the Global Campaign for Education, a Civil Society movement. The coalition’s mission is to influence the government in order to ensure the right of each individual to get quality education. The movement operates under the auspices of UNESCO’s Global Campaign for Education. GCEFA is carrying out activities with financial support from the Civil Society Fund.
